Classification Summary
This position reports directly to the Controller and is a key contributor for the Jefferson College Business Office team. Primary responsibilities include direct supervision of the Accounts Payable (AP) Department and providing functional guidance as necessary to the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Payroll departments .This position will assist the VP of Finance & Administration and Controller with budget strategy design; leading the financial audits as required by policy; preparing and submitting all required banking, investment, and tax reports; managing banking and investor relations; assuring compliance of all college debt/investment instruments with policies and/or state statutes; overseeing the return of unclaimed property ; and assisting the Controller in research and responses to annual financial audit and various State and Federal and other agency audits.

Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and five years' experience in an accounting support function, including three years of supervisory experience.

Licensing Requirements
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – Preferred

Essential Job Function
These are the job duties that are required of the position.

Classification Duties
1. Develop financial reports based on management inquiries and requests for financial data. Maintain appropriate reporting systems and processes.
2. Manage the College's multiple bank accounts and prepare monthly reconciliations. Follow up on any unusual items and advise supervisors of all cash balance trends. Monitor the property listings and take necessary actions to comply with state and federal unclaimed property regulations.
3. Ensure quality control over monthly financial transactions and financial reporting. Compile and analyze financial information. Review and approve journal entries in addition to monthly account reconciliations to ensure transactions and sub-ledgers are reconciled to the general ledger.
4. Prepare regular budget reports with variance analysis for senior management review. Provide functional training sessions to budget managers and answer questions or provides correction of errors in general ledger transactions.
5. Serve as subject matter expert for Business Office's implementation of all new technology projects. Delegate areas of responsibility among staff for testing of new systems and monitor the progress of the implementation project. Provide functional support for all components of accounting software systems and finance interfaces systems.
6. Perform and report-on internal audits of various financial processes and program areas. Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions. Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and procedures. Continuously improve and develop business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
7. Develop and implement new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the Business Office. Create and maintain documentation of finance processes.
8. Work with all areas on campus to educate users of the College's administrative and office policies and procedures to create a solid understanding of the acceptable methods and practices.
9. Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and manage the progress to enhance the professional development of staff. Lead, manage and supervise daily work of all business office staff.
10. Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
