Job Description

Campus School at BC Assistant Director/Education Administrator Position Available

The Campus School at Boston College (www.bc.edu/campusschool) is a private, special education day school for students ages 3-21 with severe, multiple disabilities. The Assistant Program Director provides supervision and consultation to staff, assists in the development of policies and procedures, coordinates the referral process for new students, works with parents, directs IEP meetings and coordinates University student involvement.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and evaluate direct service staff (teachers, therapists, nurses, etc.).
Work with teaching assistants regarding classroom instruction, curriculum development, as well as future plans, interviewing, letters of recommendation, etc.
Assist in coordinating orientation, mandated training, and professional development for all staff, volunteers, student employees and student interns.
Catalog, assess and research current curriculum materials and needs for staff use.
Ensure that teaching and instructional materials are age appropriate and relevant.
Ensure that all students receive appropriate educational, therapeutic and health care services.
Attend weekly service delivery team meetings, provide administrative support.
Chair IEP meetings and prepare meeting notes, oversee service delivery for all students.
Provide guidance to Administrative Assistants in scheduling IEP meetings and follow-up documentation.
Coordinate, schedule and attend screenings for prospective students and ensure that all prospective student records have been set up and disseminated.
Develop and support effective partnerships with Campus School families.
Develop and manage relationships with public schools to assess needs and encourage referrals.
Promote public school and community collaborations, including collaborations with Boston College.
Update and implement policies and procedures as required to ensure compliance with current DESE regulations cross-trained with the Director.
Any additional duties assigned by the Director.
Uphold the mission and values of the Campus School at Boston College.

This position begins on July 1. Competitive salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate:
Master's Degree in Special Education and/or Curriculum and Instruction
Massachusetts Educator's License in Special Education
Special Education Administrator Licensure
Three to five years of administrative and teaching experience working in a school for students with severe medical and physical disabilities. Experience with state and federal regulations as well as curriculum development and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
