Job Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst serves as a key member of the Provost Office Finance team, responsible for providing comprehensive financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation support for academic and administrative units on the Main Campus. The position ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial data, informs resource allocation decisions, and supports long-term financial planning aligned with the University's mission and strategic priorities.

The Senior Financial Analyst supports detailed and complex budgeting and forecasting initiatives, delivering financial insights, trend analyses, and recommendations to guide planning and operational decisions. The role requires exceptional analytical ability, attention to detail, and strong collaboration skills.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Prepares and analyzes complex financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Performs reconciliations across budget and accounting systems, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Supports the development and improvement of financial models and analytical tools.
  • Delivers high-quality financial service and clear communication to internal partners and senior leadership.


Work Interactions

Reporting to the Managing Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst works collaboratively with other members of the Provost Finance Office, The Office of the CFO, and financial counterparts across schools and administrative units. The position serves as a liaison between central finance and academic units, providing data-driven insights and guidance to support decision-making, as well as ensuring consistent financial reporting and adherence to university policies and procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field required; Master's Degree or higher in Business, Finance or Professional Accounting preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Building and utilizing financial models; business analytics expertise
  • Prior experience with complex financial and longitudinal planning and financial forecasting
  • Excel - expert level of proficiency and experience with managing and analyzing large volumes of data
  • Ability to work with variety of financial systems, with prior experience preferred in Workday, Adaptive, Cognos
  • Ability to understand the complexities and unique business of various schools and units
  • Understanding of cost center hierarchy, chart of accounts, and budgeted accounts to track trends across allocated expenses and accounts
  • Professional demeanor, communications, and ability to provide exceptional customer service where applicable
  • Ability to flex and support team needs as required

  • Enrollment and financial planning experience
  • Revenue and expenditure analysis experience

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
