Job Description
Assumes responsibility for providing professional-quality academic support, while fostering a collegial, student-focused environment necessary for student success within The Hartt School and University of Hartford. As a member of the Academic Support Services Team, the ASA will focus on pre-determined areas of the school, with a commitment to consistent support services, including limited faculty support. The ASA will be a model University and School citizen, championing advocacy and elevation of our students, as well as University of Hartford and Hartt School brand. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of University's students.

Description of Key Responsibility: Advises students, working closely with faculty, each semester and as needed to provide advising and registration support. Resolves student registration issues and provides guidance on course selections, schedule, and other needs. Utilizes degree/program plans to facilitate advising and ensure students are meeting degree requirements, confirming they are on-track for graduation. Works closely with representatives/advisors from International Pathways Program (IPP) to assist with international student transition/matriculation. Documents all meetings, plans, and outcomes in Compass and follows up with students and faculty, as necessary and/or appropriate. Collaborates with the Academic Support Services Manager, Associate Dean(s) and the Center for Student Success on progress reports, alerts (flags), and at-risk students. Engages with identified students and/or the faculty member to ensure the best possible outcome for the student.

Description of Key Responsibility: Provides student support including, but not limited to, informal organization, time management, coping strategies, and personal/social or academic issues, as well as other needs. Connects students to University services including, but not limited to, Access-Ability, Tutoring, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Career and Professional Development, Public Safety, and Study Abroad, with an understanding that professional resources should be utilized as fully as possible with more in-depth cases being directed to the Manager or Associate Dean. Provides connections for students interested in student clubs and organizations, such as the Student Government Association, via UhartHub.

Description of Key Responsibility: Establishes, cultivates, and maintains effective working relationships with Hartt faculty and staff, as well as with key campus constituents in an effort to support student needs. Serves as the primary student liaison for academic leadership in resolving concerns/issues and providing guidance. Assists with degree evaluation, as necessary and appropriate.

Description of Key Responsibility: Provides support to faculty on the use of academic platforms. Documents department/program meetings and distributes, as appropriate. Manages student and department/program professional communications (non-promotional). Maintains student lists and contact information for dissemination of critical information via Blackboard or other internal communication tools. Serves as liaison to Academic Support Services Managers for changes/updates in Banner, course schedules, and other operational adjustments. Supports student teacher/internship placement. Assists with student juries, panels, exams and evaluations, as appropriate.

Description of Key Responsibility: Assists with the planning and implementation of Hartt-specific orientations. Works closely with admission team, operations, and assists with placement testing and/or other academic needs. Provides administrative, planning, and operational support for applicable summer programs (pre-college and college), as assigned.

Formal Education:
Bachelors Degree required.

Work Experience:
Normal office situation. Requires travel, excluding overnight stays.
