Assistant Director of Digital Content

Overview
The Division of University Advancement seeks a qualified individual for the position of Assistant Director of Digital Content within Advancement Communications. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Digital Content, this position will assist in managing the digital presence for constituent engagement functions of the division, working in close coordination with the Senior Director of Communications and the rest of the Advancement Communications Team. This digital presence includes the division's website, social media, email campaigns, video production, and other emerging mediums, with the dual goals of increasing engagement among the division's constituents (alumni, parents, donors, etc.) and also increasing revenue through the direct and indirect use of these mediums. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
Digital Content – Under the guidance of the Senior Associate Director of Digital Content, creates digital content for University Advancement in coordination with the Senior Director of Communications and key divisional stakeholders, maintaining content and planning (with others' input) new content for use on the web focused on both alumni engagement and giving/philanthropy. Role includes managing existing advancement social channels, as well as close coordination on social promotion with the University's Office of Marketing and Communications. The key objective is building and maintaining a highly engaged community of supporters on social media that will be receptive to University Advancement's multichannel fundraising initiatives.

Analytics and Evaluation – Tracks data and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of digital content (primarily web, email, and social media) in order to continuously evaluate performance, modulate strategy and tactics, and thereby increase both engagement and giving. Position will assist in the creation of the evaluation plan in order to consistently measure effectiveness of engagement efforts.

Content Creation / Aggregation – In concert with the Senior Associate Director of Digital Content, this position writes and edits original content for all mediums with an emphasis on digital content (Advancement website, electronic newsletters, appeal letters, school-based communications, others as needed). Work flow will be based on communications priorities for the division. The position will also work in tandem with the Advancement Communications Team to periodically aggregate approved existing written content that can be used and adapted for varied purposes by all Advancement and Alumni Relations staff.

Video Production – Assists with video production for the division, including short-form pieces developed for strategic University special events and for use on the web/social platforms.

Campaign Digital Presence – Working with the Senior Associate Director of Digital Content, the position assists in unifying the look, feel, and content for the web/digital presence of Catholic University's comprehensive campaign. This position also assists in updating and management of campaign digital tools.

Design and Development – Partners with internal clients within Advancement and across the University to design and organize the site and new web and email content in ways that can help stakeholders meet objectives that are shared with the UA team. This can entail expanded work with individual schools or Advancement/Alumni participation in major university initiatives from an outbound messaging perspective.

Coordination and Planning – Helps schedule the creation/acquisition of content for the Advancement website and works with collaborators to assign out tasks and manage deadlines. Ensures calendar is adhered to and understood by collaborators.


Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required with three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in a communications or marketing role within a higher education institution. Relevant education can supplement years of experience.

Direct experience creating email and social media campaigns. Experience with Drupal or other complex content management systems. Solid working knowledge of digital analytics tools for websites (Google Analytics preferred), emails (AlumnIQ or MailChimp preferred), and social media (TrueSocialMetrics, Spreadfast, HootSuite, or similar). Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Photoshop. Photography, videography, and graphic design proficiencies preferred, but not required.
