  • Position Summary:
    The University of Alaska Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a self-motivated accounting professional for the position of fiscal officer. The fiscal officer is an integral member of the IT business office team, and with support from other team members is responsible for developing and managing a $20 million annual operating budget, projecting revenues and expenditures and providing detailed financial projections to IT leadership. This position also offers a flexible hybrid-remote work schedule. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is a unique organization that provides enterprise technology solutions to students, faculty and staff across the University system. The services that we provide include high speed internet connectivity, a state of the art data center, Banner ERP support, cybersecurity solutions, and endpoint support.     Duties:
    Under the direction of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Executive Officer the Fiscal Officer manages the business and financial operations of the OIT Business Office (ITBO). With input from IT leadership, and support from team members in the IT Business Office, the Fiscal Officer develops and manages the annual IT operating and capital budget plans. Projects and Manages multiple sources of funding, including state appropriation, interdepartmental revenue (recharge center), indirect cost recovery and restricted revenue. In consultation with the Executive Officer and directors the fiscal officer prepares monthly and quarterly management reports, prepares detailed revenue and expenditure analysis and advises leadership on important business decisions. Helps support the vendor management and contract management efforts of OIT and the IT Business office. Ensures that department financial transactions comply with University policy and regulation, Statewide Accounting and Administrative Manual, State and Federal guidelines and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The fiscal officer works under administrative supervision, making independent decisions on complex financial projects in support of the OIT management team.

    Assist with heavy office workflow to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all business office transactions. -Approve/Enter purchase requisitions -Prepare/review journal vouchers and budget revisions -Prepare/review recharge billings -Approve procard purchases -Other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
    Fund accounting, GAAP, cost accounting. Well developed written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a project team.

    Typical Experience:
    Minimum of two years of professional fiscal/ accounting experience or equivalent level of training and education.

    Required Education or Training:
    Combination of training and/ or formal education in accounting or business sufficient to perform the duties of the position.

    Salary Information:

    This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
