Position Description
Performs managerial work providing direction and guidance in setting and achieving goals and objectives; developing policies; reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals; coordinating and evaluating program activities; and establishing and monitoring budget. May plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Responsible for planning and coordinating student staff training (Tutors).
  • Collect and input data for departmental and non-departmental use. Provide reporting to Director as needed.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with wide variety of students and colleagues, as well as effectively work independently.
  • Assist the Director with additional projects and tasks as needed.
  • Represent the Learning Center & Supplemental Instruction by attending events as necessary (RROs, resource fairs, presentations, tablings, etc.)
  • Daily supervision of student staff (Tutors).
  • Assist in recruitment, interviewing, and hiring process of student staff.
  • Responsible for quality of program (surveys, student staff meetings, disciplinary issue).
  • Work with campus partners regarding Professional Development opportunities for student staff.
  • Scheduling of student staff (Tutors).


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in area of expertise or closely related area required. Three years of experience in planning, developing, or implementing programs/projects or research grants. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills required. Ability to critically think and make decisions.
  • Ability to work well with a large group of individuals. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines as required.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits.
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to analyze technical data.
  • Previous supervisory experience. Previous experience in training.
  • Previous experience in a university or college setting with student programs.
  • Attention to detail is a MUST.
