Position Description
Supports the Associate Dean for Research and Research Assistant Professor with providing direction and guidance in setting and achieving goals and objectives; developing policies; reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals; coordinating and evaluating program activities; and monitoring various budgets as assigned.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Strong and professional oral and written communication skills are required. High level of attention to detail while meeting strict deadlines. Ability to work well with a variety of people. Demonstrated knowledge of or ability to learn and interpret federal grant guidelines
  • Ability to prioritize workload under tight deadlines; work cooperatively with faculty and staff within COHS and across units in the university; knowledge of university organization, faculty responsibilities, and motivations; willingness and ability to work well with others and also independently; ability to multi-task
  • Bachelors degree in related field. Three (3) years related experience
  • Proficient use of Excel, Adobe, Word



Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in area of expertise or closely related area required. Three years of experience in planning, developing, or implementing programs/projects or research grants. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with internal TTU systems (e.g. Cayuse, Cognos, TechBuy, Chrome river for Travel and Procurement Cards, etc.)
  • Experience with grant proposal management, social sciences research
  • Knowledge of, or ability to become knowledgeable about federal regulations and federal agency policies related to grants and contracts with universities, including basic definitions and terms (e.g., F & A rate, cost sharing)
  • Understanding or ability to quickly gain and understand university policies, procedures, and systems related to administration of sponsored projects. This includes proposal submission, budgeting, personnel/payroll, travel, purchasing, and accounting
