Job Summary
Partners with academic and business units within the university to understand their business needs to implement and maintain IT solutions that help meet their objectives. Provides technical guidance to others within the team across all application services functions. Manages business relationships and has expertise in the operations of specific business units, handles technical application initiatives and issues, and updates internal operating standards. Works closely with other IT groups and vendors for issue resolution.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of enterprise application services and solutions, maintaining their quality, reliability, stability, recoverability, and security
- Provides technical expertise and works closely with other technical staff, functional teams, and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve application and data issues
- Troubleshoots technical issues independently to determine root cause while maintaining detailed documentation of the progress through completion
- Handles system upgrades and provides on-call support for incidents outside of normal business hours
- Maintains relationships with key departments throughout the University to identify and understand customer needs, and support solutions that best support their objectives
- Keeps stakeholders informed of all relevant updates (system enhancements, system upgrades, system outages, project updates, etc.) around applications, services, projects, initiatives
- Reviews and updates application inventories and documentation, including standard operating procedures and run books
- Participates in feasibility studies
- Contributes to implementation projects for the Application Services team
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Required Experience
Two (2) years of related IT experience demonstrating a progression of dealing with increasingly complex systems
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field
Preferred Experience
Experience with Windows and/or Linux servers, IIS, Apache and/or NginX
Previous experience in higher education

Able to navigate user interfaces for Windows and/or Linux operating systems. Knowledge of application installation, packaging systems, related application dependencies and configurations
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and experience supporting the full lifecycle of complex, cloud based, and on-premises applications and solutions
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
